QPS Research Institute, a startup from Kyushu University specializing in artificial satellite development, is setting up a new research and development base in Fukuoka City's Momochihama area. The institute plans to lease a facility previously used for industry-academia-government collaboration for ten years, with the expectation to commence operations by mid-2024. Their goal is to boost the annual production of small satellites, which are utilized in disaster prevention among other sectors, from 4 to 10 units, ultimately aiming to expedite the establishment of a satellite network comprising 36 satellites.
