Record-High Prefectural Tax Revenue for Fukuoka in Fiscal Year 2022

Fukuoka Prefecture announced its estimated general account settlement for the fiscal year 2022. The prefectural tax revenue increased by 30 billion yen from the previous fiscal year, reaching a record high of 734.3 billion yen. The rise is attributed to economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, increased corporate taxes (prefectural residents' tax and business tax), and growth in local consumption tax due to factors like rising crude oil prices. The prefecture's debt, represented by the outstanding prefectural bonds, decreased by 2.0% (78 billion yen) to 3.8053 trillion yen, marking the first decrease since the recorded fiscal year of 1966.
