Private Companies in Kyushu Plan to Increase Capital Investment by 61% in 2023

The Japan Policy Finance Corporation released the results of its survey on domestic capital investment plans for fiscal year 2023. The survey targeted nationwide companies with a capital of 100 million yen or more, excluding the financial and insurance sectors. Kyushu's investment amount is expected to increase by 61.7% compared to the previous fiscal year, reaching 1.105 trillion yen, marking the third consecutive year of growth. By industry, manufacturing recorded a 210% increase to 514.6 billion yen, while non-manufacturing, boosted by redevelopment projects in Fukuoka City and Tenjin, grew by 29% to 495.9 billion yen. Kyushu's growth rate significantly surpassed the national average of 20.1%, ranking the highest among all nine regions in Japan. Semiconductor-related investments saw a substantial increase, surpassing the previous record set during the high-growth period of 1970 (40.8%).
