Number of Foreign Workers in Fukuoka Prefecture Reaches a Record High

The number of foreign workers in Fukuoka Prefecture, as reported by the Fukuoka Labor Bureau, was 57,393 at the end of October 2022, a 6.4% increase from the previous year. This is the highest number since the introduction of the mandatory reporting system for the employment status of foreigners in 2007, reflecting the relaxation of border control measures against the new coronavirus. By nationality, Vietnamese accounted for 32.5% of the total, or 18,635 workers, followed by Chinese (14,761, or 18.3%), Nepalese (13,631, or 18.1%), and Filipinos (4,694, or 8.2%).
