Regarding the planned offshore wind farm off Hibikinada, Fukuoka Prefecture's Energy Policy Office announced an upgrade by the national government from a "preparatory zone" to the next-stage "promising zone." The designated area covers 51 square kilometers, with an expected output of around 500,000 kilowatts—enough to supply approximately 12% of the electricity used by general households in the prefecture. A statutory council comprising the national and prefectural governments, local municipalities, and representatives from fisheries and maritime sectors will be established to begin full-scale discussions toward construction.
